5Great Chair - Great Price
By AdamJayP
INTRO:Well, I've had this chair for about a month now, and to be honest I really like this chair a lot. It's a very basic chair, but the pneumatic lift goes WAY up high (and way down low too), at least three inches higher than my last chair from the office supply store.SEAT:The foam is a little stiff at first, but I think that's better. It's not hard at all, you just don't sink way down in it. The arms are vertically adjustable about 3" or so.BACK: The back is of course mesh, so there isn't much to say about it except opinion. I like the mesh back because of the ventilation, much cooler in my chair now, and don't need the desk fan - also I've had problems with the cushion breaking down and the lumbar supports jabbing me in the back. This can't happen with this chair. The mesh gives just a tad for comfort, but always retains it's shape.BASE:Very smooth rollers. It comes with "carpet" rollers, but I use a plastic mat under the chair anyway, so I can't say if they dig in or not, however, I will say the chair rolls very nicely, swivels nicely, and the legs don't stick way out from under the chair like my old chair. I don't have to turn the base of the chair so one leg doesn't hit the desk - they're just a hair bigger than the seat cushion.RECLINE:If I was going to take off anything, this would be the area. The recline is very stiff out of the box, but you can adjust that with a knob, so it's no big deal. It adjusts from very free to no recline - and also has a lockout for the recline feature. All this aside, only the back reclines. The seat reclines a little bit (it's a cantilever design), but not the same amount as the back. At first this was very odd, but now I really like it.ASSEMBLY:Pretty straightforward. There's a yellow card included with the packaging to file a claim directly if some parts are missing, but all mine were there and it took me about 15 minutes to put the chair together... mostly because I put the left arm on the right side and vice versa. Totally my fault, they're clearly labeled with arrows on the base and everything. Just got in a hurry. NO EXTRA TOOLS REQUIRED. It comes with all the tool you need. Yes, there's only one. A small Allen key wrench that is more than up to the task.PRICE:The best part about this chair is the price. I don't know of a chair this good under $250 - I'm a big guy, and because of that I do tend to wear out chairs. I've sat in a few to say the least... I think this one is going to last quite a while. I've had it for a month now as I said, and it still looks and feels brand new every day. That's really all there is too it. I like to read the reviews when I buy anything, so I figured I'd leave one with my honest opinion. I shopped around a lot before I bought this chair - and quite simply there's nothing that can touch it in price/quality.

3Mixed feelings...
By M. Baily
The positive: This chair seems to be first class, heavy duty, quality made. Assembly was pretty easy, and not time consuming. The negative. As other reviewers have noted, this chair is not generic for most people, it is made for BIG(like me) people. If you are under six feet tall, buy a different chair. The arm rests are not flat, they are concave. This means if you are sitting at the computer, working, your armrest has to be pointed directly at the mouse, or you're arm will move out of the groove, then start rubbing against the edge, and start hurting. I fixed this by wrapping a very thick foam pad around the right armrest, which worked, but looks incredibly tacky. The seat is very hard. To solve this problem, I placed a two inch piece of foam on the seat. That didn't work because now, even fully extended, the armrests are too low, and the back support is in the wrong place. Using a one inch piece of foam was a good compromise, as now the back support and armrests work, and my butt is only slightly sore. Two month update: After sitting in this chair for close to two hundred hours, my rear no longer aches, but the armrest still causes my arm to hurt, even with the pad. I guess I'm going to have to make a custom made armrest cover. I also notice, from time to time, the seat drops slightly after sitting in it for several hours. Not a lot, but that worries me that the hydraulics are not top drawer.Final notes: If I had to do it over again, I would sit in any chair I was going to buy first, then go online and read any reviews I could find, and if I was still impressed, buy it where ever it was the cheapest.

3It's ok. It's better for heavier people.
By killgirl
Took me about 30 minutes to put together--casters take some brute force to get into the base; granted, I ordered my own casters for hardwood separately and did not use the ones that came with the chair. That said, the instructions are surprisingly clear considering how short/concise they are, and how intimidating the mix of items that come out of the box is.Regarding fit & comfort - the chair is really wide. I like a closer fit where the arms will actually be in a place that would be useful to me. I'm on the larger side of..well, "normal" (female, 5'7, not thin), and the whole thing is just way too wide to be really supportive. I'm thinking I might just swap out for a saddle stool or something, I'm trying to achieve good posture not sloppy relaxing. I suspect this will work well on someone very overweight or obese to some extent, and you could easily be near 6 feet and have this the right height to have your feet touching the ground but the chair as high as possible while maintaining that. The quality of the construction is OK. You can see staples where the fabric is attached to the base, etc. I'm sure it will be fine for two or three years of moderate use, but this thing definitely isn't indestructible. I will probably end up selling mine locally instead of taking it apart/shipping it back, and will end up getting something else.
