BEST office chair I've ever used!
By Eugene I. Kim
I spend a lot of time sitting down, and I've gone through many different office chairs. This is by far the best office chair I've ever used. I noticed that most of the high-back leather office chairs I've used did not give me a good lower back support. This ergonomic chair design gives you firm support starting from lower back and all they way up to your neck. I noticed that it also corrects my posture and "forces" me to sit upright with my back straight and chest out. By comparison, I tend to sit chest caved-in and butt-forward on most other chairs. The duo-back rests and neck pads have some kind of spring hinge on them and they move with you. So it supports you well even if you shift a bit as you work on your chair. It's great! The duo-back concept does seem to work quite well here. I also went to a local "Relax the Back" store where they have a bunch of ergonomic chairs to check them all out. I prefer my DuoRest chair over all the other chairs I've tried. When adjuting, there is a button (hard to notice) just under the head rest. I did not notice this button for a few days and thought that I could only adjust it using a screw underneath. The head rest will not go up high enough unless you adjust using the button. Now the description says "leather," but I'm quite certain that this is leatherette or vinyl. It's okay, but definitely not as good looking as many high-back leather office chairs. So it's not as good lookin, but my back is much more important than that. I also have several other Duorest (without the head rests) for my staff, and they definitely prefer it to the nice leather task chairs they had before.---Update: I was in a store in Los Angeles that carried the entire line of these Duorest chairs. I tried the DUOREST CHAIRMAN which I thought about getting next. On the Chairman, the headrest is fixed and the height cannot be adjusted as you can on the Leader version. Also the arm rests are fixed and can't be adjusted on the CHAIRMAN; they can be adjusted in all directions on the Leader. The Chairman has a little bit of leather on the arm rests, but the overall feel is "cheap" on the Chairman; it is not worth the extra price for the Chairman; it also has some kind of cheap wooden plank as a spine that can't be noticed from pictures shown. In short, DUOREST LEADER > DUOREST CHAIRMAN. Leader is better, more ergonomic, looks better, and less expensive than the Chairman. So I'm getting another Leader so I have one for both office and home.

duorest chairs are the best chairs under $600
By njnj2000
I have been sitting on this chair for about 5 years, and I love this chair. Very sturdy. But if you are going to use it heavily, buy the fabric one instead of synthetic leather one. Synthetic leather feels great, but the material is kinda weak. The surface of the part you are going to sit on will be slowly torn apart, so I put a towel on it to use it. Any other great chair I can think of is that one from Herman Miller which costs more than $600, but it was kinda high for my taste and I tends to sit somewhat lower than other people.I recommend this chair with fabric instead of leather. In fact, I am going to call duorest and find if I can get a fabric bottom from them.

Comfortable for scoliosis sufferer
By Kenneth Molay
I have had great trouble finding a work chair that can stand up to my demands. I work for myself at a computer job and sometimes put in 16 hour days at my desk. I also have a significant spinal curvature that makes traditional lumbar supports uncomfortable. My last chair was a Nightingale CXO 6200D Series Executive Black Mesh Office Chair with Adjustable Headrest - Ships in 1. Very expensive, very adjustable, and still gave me problems over time.I had to try a blind order on the Duorest Leaders, as there were no retailers in my area giving me a chance to sit on one. I have been quite pleased with my purchase and find this chair more comfortable for work than the CXO (at a price savings of about $500!).The seat is comfortable, it is very stable on a wide six-wheel base, and it rolls smoothly when desired and stays firmly in place otherwise. I saw some reviews talking about problems keeping the arms in position, but I have had no problems with them at all. Height adjustment and angle adjustment are good. They are made of a plastic material with a bit of spongy give, making them comfortable if you rest your arms on them while typing. There is no forward/backward adjustment on the arms, so you can't pull your chair in any tighter to your work desk than the front of the arms, but this is still a comfortable work distance for me. Width adjustments should be plenty for wider users, but there is a minimum width that might be too far apart if you have an extremely narrow frame. The seat height adjustment is smooth and works like any other pneumatic chair. Nothing positive or negative to report. The seat and back are connected at a fixed angle, so if you unlock the seat pitch, you move the entire seat/back assembly as a unit. I found that I could never set the tension adjustment tight enough to make the unlocked position work for me. I instantly pitched back uncontrollably. But the good news is that even with the seat locked in position, there is flex in the back, letting you get a bit of firmly supported rocking. As a matter of fact, this is the second best feature, as the spring tensioning in the back keeps the wings supporting you no matter where you go. If you lean to the side to pick up a piece of paper from the floor, the back moves with you and keeps supporting you. The feeling is delightful and unique in my experience. For my particular case, the best feature is the obvious one of the two separated wings on the back. You can slide each wing horizontally and fix it in position to cradle your back correctly for your anatomy. Because of my spinal abnormality, this means I have the break between the two halves offset several inches from the physical centerpiece riser on the back assembly. My spine is no longer trying to compete with supports pushing uncomfortably against the vertebrae. Unlike another reviewer I read, I feel no loss of lumbar support with this arrangement. The cradling and support just comes more from the outer portions of the back than from the center. I like it. You can raise and lower the height of the wings assembly to get the cradling at the right height for your back. The headrest is not useful for support while sitting upright and working. Even at maximum height extension, it is too low for a six foot user and it sits considerably back from your head/neck position while upright. I find it nice to lean back against if I want to rock back and take a little break. More like an easy chair in that case.I have been using mine for six months now and I have far fewer instances of sitting-related back pain than ever before. No regrets on this purchase.
